Our History

Steve and Sarah Barlow opened Cedar Chest of Wimberley in 1996 in what was a former Texaco Gas Station built around 1930. The unique style of the building, complete with original hardwood flooring, was the backdrop for what would become a Women’s Boutique. In no time, it became obvious that more space was needed so Cedar Chest of Wimberley space expanded to include products from Apparel, Jewelry, Footwear, and Home & Fragrance products.

Since 1996, Cedar Chest of Wimberley has continued to change and focus on bringing you the best quality products selected for their quality and uniqueness.

A Special Name - Some Family History

When it came time to decide on a name for Cedar Chest of Wimberley we had been given a treasured family heirloom which was a Lane cedar chest that had belonged to Steve’s grandmother, Nellie Baker. Nellie was a true Texas-born treasure and she shared many memories of her youth and how special the Lane cedar chest was to her. Nellie reminded us of how young ladies would plan for their future and store only their finest treasures in the chest to prepare for their futures. We decided to honor this special woman by naming the store Cedar Chest of Wimberley after one of Nellie’s favorite things.

STEVE BARLOW
Runs the day-to-day operations from managing inventory to selling products in the store. He also takes care of the building operations which includes Engineering Department for things that require his attention. 

SARAH BARLOW
Runs the day-to-day operations from Buying products, Website operations, Accounting, Retail sales. Sarah can also help you with finding the right apparel choice for you to selecting the right gift for someone special. A dog mom to 3 toy poodles and 1 grand champion Shih Tzu. 

LAUREN FLOYD
An experienced multitasker for sure from Buying products, Website operations, Retail sales to Modeling.  Lauren is an apparel stylist and can help you with making your best apparel choices.  She is also a wife, a mom and has two precious little twin boys.
